A change in the grouping and operational order of battle of forces in a theatre of operations, along a strategic or operational axis or in a zone of advance or a defended area. Regrouping is carried out in accordance with a specific concept in order to create or alter a grouping or order of battle, to prepare and conduct an operation, to reinforce troops along the main axis of an operation or battle, to close a breach in a defensive position, to transfer the effort to a new sector or axis, to reconstitute follow-up echelons or reserves, etc. Regrouping may be strategic, operational or tactical according to purpose and scale.
