Mil., Logist. |
A general term for the assignment of any military or naval activity to a fixed land location. (UKR/NATO); The assignment in peacetime of military units or tactical formations, agencies and training establishments to locations specially designated for that purpose, e.g. on military bases, in camps or in built-up areas. In wartime, the term usually applies to formations that are not part of a deployed army. It is sometimes used to designate the assignment of air-force units or formations to different aerodromes. It may also apply to navy vessels or formations at naval operating bases or other maritime installations. (UKR/NATO); The long-term presence in peacetime of forces from one NATO nation on the territory of another NATO nation for the purpose of collective defence, crisis management or peace support. That presence is subject to mutual agreement between the nations concerned. (UKR/NATO) |
